The following is a brief overview of the sets located in the various sound stages at Vancouver Film Studios in BC Canada. Above is an aerial view of the studio buildings.
One of the original dozen Battlestar's constructed by the Colonial Navy during the first days of the Cylon War, the Galactica was on the verge of retirement when the 12 colonies were destroyed. It was her very age that saved her from annihilation during that first, devastating attack – antiquated systems protected the Galactica from Cylon tampering. She has become the flagship of the fleet, and the military center of the surviving human society, as well as the last line of defense between humanity and extinction. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
More a commuter shuttle than a deep space craft, Colonial One -- originally designated Colonial Heavy 798 -- is dwarfed by many of the larger ships in the fleet. Despite its size, it is the political center of the fleet, and the capitol of the new human society emerging among the survivors of the Cylon massacre. It is the home of President Laura Roslin and her government, which is housed in the converted upper decks of the ship. It is a prime target for the Cylons, and heavy fuel requirements and a temperamental Jump drive render it particularly vulnerable. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The Colonial Viper Mk II is the ultimate fighter in the Colonial Military. Its propulsion system is so powerful that despite being equipped with inertial dampers, it’s potentially deadly to inexperienced pilots who may be shocked by its power. Although there are only a few Colonial Viper Mk II ships left aboard the Battlestar Galactica, these fighters are the pinnacle of flight engineering throughout Colonial Space. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |
